Faf du Plessis was named Player of the Match in last season's Indian Premier League final, helping Chennai Super Kings to the title with a knock of 86, but has switched sides ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped up Du Plessis in the pre-season auction and immediately installed the South African as their new captain.

And in their opening match against Punjab Kings on Sunday, Du Plessis looks a decent bet to lead by example and top score for his team.

Last year, Du Plessis struck 633 runs in 16 matches and when playing against Punjab Kings for Chennai in October he piled on 76 runs from 55 deliveries. He should impress once again.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in IPL history with five titles to their name but last year was a campaign to forget as they failed to reach the playoffs.

And while their first IPL opponents in 2022, Delhi Capitals, have one of the strongest squads in the division, they are set to be without a handful of key players on Sunday.

David Warner is set to miss Delhi's opener while key bowler Anrich Nortje is also still getting back to full fitness.

And with Lungi Ngidi also a doubt, that leaves the Capitals light on bowling options, meaning Mumbai could be worth a small bet at odds-on.
