Stars can build on first victory of campaign

The betting suggests a tight contest between the two Melbourne franchises in the Big Bash but the Stars are worth backing to claim a second win of the season in the derby.

The Renegades needed a remarkable sixth-wicket stand of 94 in eight overs between Dan Christian and Mohammad Nabi to beat Adelaide Strikers but they couldn't pull off the same escape act last time out.

Chasing 133 against Sydney Sixers they subsided to 99-9 while the Stars got their first win on the board in impressive fashion against the Sixers thanks to a 35-ball 70 from opener Peter Handscomb.

If Handscomb gets them off to another good start then power hitters Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Dwayne Bravo could do some serious damage later in the innings and the Stars are the bet at the MCG.
