South Africa v Sri Lanka: second Test betting preview, tip & TV details
Proteas will be desperate to restore pride
TV: Sky Sports Cricket, 8am Thursday
Kusal Perera produced an extraordinary innings to help Sri Lanka seal a famous victory in the first Test against South Africa but the tourists can expect the Proteas to come back fighting in the second and final Test in Port Elizabeth.
Perera batted brilliantly with the tail in Durban, stroking an unbeaten 153 to see his team over the line with one wicket remaining against one of the most fearsome bowling attacks in the world.
South African captain Faf du Plessis admitted that Perera, who had just one century to his name prior to that memorable knock, was “just too good” for them.
Despite that setback, bookmakers believe that the Proteas will respond, making them no bigger than 1-5 to draw the series with a victory at a venue where they are unbeaten in six Tests.
Kagiso Rabada has lost his place at the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings but the 23-year-old will be determined to return to the summit with a wicket-taking display in Port Elizabeth.
He took 11 Australian scalps at St George’s Park in 2018 and could lead the charge as the hosts look to restore pride.
Recommendation
K Rabada to be named man of the match
1pt 9-1 general
