Eoin Morgan spoke about England using their Twenty20 series with South Africa to establish a defined top order for next year's World Cup and one player in particular will be confident in their new position following the first match in Cape Town.

After Jason Roy and Jos Buttler fell quickly, Jonny Bairstow came in at an unusual fourth spot and, with the help of Ben Stokes, pushed England from 34-3 to 119-4 with an unbeaten 86 - his highest score in T20 internationals.

It came at a venue where he scored his maiden Test century four years ago and demonstrates just how versatile England's batting lineup can be.

But with continued experimentation and a move to Boland Park in Paarl for the second T20, punters may want to look elsewhere for a top England runscorer bet this time around.

Ben Stokes was another who impressed on Friday with 37 runs from 27 deliveries, keeping the score ticking over as Bairstow earned the plaudits at the other end.

Stokes finished the Indian Premier League season with scores of 30, 107 not out, 50 and 18 and looks overpriced to top score for England against the Proteas.

With elite IPL bowler Kagiso Rabada having taken only two wickets in four T20 internationals this year, there is reason to back another bowler to claim the most scalps for South Africa.

Lungi Ngidi took eight wickets in the series with England in February and finished with figures of 3-30 at Boland Park against Australia earlier this year.

The 24-year-old dislodged Buttler and Morgan in the first game and represents a value selection to be South Africa's top wicket-taker.
