Between them the pair have won just five of their 14 matches and need rapid improvement if they are to challenge in the tournament. Chennai’s start has been particularly concerning given that they are the reigning champions.

Punjab came out on top comfortably when the two sides met earlier in the season, winning by 54 runs after skittling Chennai for 126.
