Yorkshire went out in the quarter-finals of last year’s One-Day Cup but they are among the favourites win the trophy this year and can start with victory over Durham.

The visitors head into their opener in the 50-over tournament following a heavy defeat by an innings and 17 runs to Surrey in the County Championship. But they exhibited an ability to handle pressure in their recent victory over Essex when they recovered from a dismal first-innings total of 50 to win the match by 91 runs.

Youngster Harry Brook starred in that performance, registering his maiden first-class hundred and last year’s England Under-19 World Cup captain combines with overseas acquisition Cheteshwar Pujara to pose a serious threat for the Vikings.

Durham lost all-rounder Paul Coughlin to Nottinghamshire after last season and have failed to make it beyond the quarter-finals of the 50-over competition since winning the first One-Day Cup in 2014.

Away from the cameras, Surrey, beaten finalists in each of the last three years, should take the spoils against Somerset at the Oval.

Glamorgan missed out on a place in the quarter-finals last year but new captain Colin Ingram could do better with the Welsh outfit this season, starting with a win over Gloucestershire.
