Match preview

New Zealand will seal a place in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup at the expense of ante-post favourites India if they win their last two Group 2 games against Namibia and Afghanistan, and the form of their opening batsmen is a major boost for the Black Caps.

Martin Guptill's 93 set up a 16-run win over Scotland on Wednesday and his opening partner Daryl Mitchell top-scored with a career-best 49 in their previous game against India, helping his side chase down a target of 111 with almost six overs to spare.

Even in New Zealand's opening defeat to Pakistan, they reached 36 before Guptill was dismissed and another solid start looks likely against 11-1 underdogs Namibia.

They took three wickets in the first four deliveries of their opening Super 12 win over Scotland but have struggled with the new ball in subsequent defeats to Afghanistan and Pakistan, who posted opening stands of 53 and 113.
