It will not only be fans of New Zealand and Afghanistan on the edge of their seats when the sides lock horns in the Twenty20 World Cup at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium this weekend as the game could also determine the fate of tournament ante-post favourites India.
Victory for New Zealand, who are 2-5 to oblige, would see them progress from the Super 12 phase along with section leaders Pakistan, eliminating India and Afghanistan.
A win for the Afghans, however, would move them up to second temporarily until India face Namibia in their final group game.
But it is hard to look past a win for the Black Caps, who have won their last three games in the tournament and possess an in-form bowler in their ranks in Trent Boult.
The paceman has taken eight wickets in his four World Cup assignments and also managed to keep batsmen quiet, conceding only 20 runs against India, 29 against Scotland and 20 against Namibia.
Boult can frustrate Afghanistan and looks a decent bet to be his side's top wicket-taker in this hugely significant encounter.
