Preview

South Africa have never won the Twenty20 World Cup but are considered dark horses for this year's tournament in Australia and are fancied to start their Super 12 campaign with a win over minnows Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe topped Group B in the first round of the World Cup ahead of Ireland, Scotland and the West Indies but they could be out of their depth against the Proteas.

There is a good feeling around this South Africa group, which features a superb pace attack suited to Australian conditions and some of the most exciting batsmen in T20 cricket in Rilee Rossouw, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs.

They have also had a pretty strong build-up to the tournament, beating England in the UK back in the summer and pushing India close in a 2-1 series defeat earlier this month.

And one of their most consistent performers in those matches who should not be overlooked in this tournament is Aiden Markram, who is fourth in the ICC's world T20 batting rankings.

In his last seven T20 international innings, Markram has struck 52 not out, 51 not out, 56, 27, 25, 33 and 16 not out and he averaged 54 in last year's World Cup.

He looks a value bet to top score for his side.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh are 1-4 to win their Super 12 opener against the Netherlands, who are 3-1 to win after edging Namibia and United Arab Emirates to second spot in Group A in the first round.
