Sydney Thunder posted the lowest score in men's Twenty20 history in their most recent Big Bash League outing against Adelaide Strikers, losing by a whopping 124 runs, and the New South Wales franchise may struggle to pick themselves up for their clash with Melbourne Renegades.

Chasing 140 to win, Thunder were bowled out for a miserly 15 in only 35 balls with five players going for a duck and tail-end batsman Brendan Doggett top-scoring with only four.

It was a shock humiliation from a team who finished third in the 2021-22 season standings, winning nine of their 14 regular-season matches, whereas the Renegades finished bottom of the pile last campaign with ten losses to their name.

That has probably played a part in both sides being around the same price to win this encounter, but the Renegades look the better pick nonetheless.

They opened with a decent 22-run win over Brisbane Heat with skipper Nic Maddinson especially prolific at the top of the order with 87 scored from 49 balls.

The nature of Thunder's defeat to Adelaide is bound to play on the Sydneysiders' minds for some time and they are again worth opposing in the Big Bash League.
