Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat preview

Brisbane Heat have cleared the first hurdle in the Big Bash playoffs, posting 203-5 to win a rain-affected Eliminator against Sydney Thunder on Friday, but they are still three wins away from claiming the trophy.

Next up for the Heat is a knockout clash with Melbourne Renegades, who finished a distant third to Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers in the league stage of this season's competition.

Fast-finishing Brisbane ended up just a point behind the Renegades thanks to four victories in their final five league fixtures and their only defeat during that run was an extraordinary two-run loss to Hobart Hurricanes when they needed just 19 runs off 24 balls with six wickets in hand.

International aces Usman Khawaja (94) and Marnus Labuschagne (73) helped the Heat give a far more convincing batting display in Friday's playoff success and they look dangerous outsiders to extend their scorching run of form.
