Match preview

New franchise Lucknow Super Giants snapped up star openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock for their first Indian Premier League campaign and that recruitment strategy has paid off nicely.

Skipper Rahul scored an unbeaten century to propel the Super Giants to a win over Mumbai on Saturday, sharing a breezy first-wicket stand of 52 with South African ace De Kock.

That was Lucknow's fourth victory in six games although they are slight outsiders to beat a star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore side at Mumbai's DY Patil Sports Academy.

Both of the Super Giants' openers have had success at this venue as Rahul made 68 against Hyderabad and De Kock cracked a matchwinning 80 off 52 balls against Delhi.

The pair put on 73 against the Capitals and can post a higher opening partnership than Bangalore. The Royal Challengers were reduced to 13-2 in the early stages of their weekend win over Delhi, whose openers raced to 50 off just 4.3 overs.
