Kolkata's batsmen never got going in the first half of the IPL season and they look set for a sixth defeat in eight matches against Bangalore in Dubai.

KKR coach Brendon McCullum was frustrated by his side's slow starts to matches in India and they may struggle to remedy that when the tournament resumes in the UAE.

Only all-rounders Andre Russell and Pat Cummins had batting strike-rates of higher than 140 and in the 2020 IPL, also moved to the UAE, opener Shubman Gill scored at a sluggish rate of 119 runs per 100 balls.

Bangalore have no such problems as openers Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal have been going at 9.66 runs per over, helping their side to five wins in seven outings.

With AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell lurking in the middle order, Bangalore's top two can afford to take risks in the Powerplay overs and the Royal Challengers are worth backing to win the game and post a higher score in the first six overs.
