Losing KL Rahul was a big blow but it should not take much to better last season's disappointing sixth-place finish.

Fresh from a great auction, the new-look Royals should be considered serious playoff contenders with the pace bowling of Trent Boult and dangerous spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin in their ranks.

Performance in 2021: Winners

The defending champions have seen their price inflate after losing Du Plessis and Shardul Thakur but should not be underestimated.

Kolkata Knight Riders 10-1

Performance in 2021: Runners-up

Dinesh Karthik and Lockie Ferguson could prove to be key losses and bookmakers do not fancy the Knight Riders to build on last year's run to the final.
