For decades, touring teams in India faced a trial by spin but Virat Kohli’s fast bowlers have been outstanding recently and only five of the 20 Bangladesh wickets in the first Test were taken by slow bowlers.

The markets still rate spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as India’s main threats with the ball but Umesh Yadav is a tempting 9-2 to be their top first-innings wicket-taker at Eden Gardens.

In six home Tests since the start of 2018, the powerful paceman has taken 30 wickets at an average of 14.83.
