Gloucestershire have been well backed for their T20 Blast South Group trip to face bottom side Glamorgan and a couple of the visitors’ all-rounders appeal in the man-of-the-match market.

The Welsh county were relieved to come away with a point from the reverse fixture as the rain came with them in deep trouble at 96-8.

Benny Howell, one of the most canny Twenty20 bowlers in the world, filleted Glamorgan’s batting with 5-18 from his four overs and he followed up with a vital innings of 33 in the tense two-wicket win over Middlesex.

Howell is well worth a bet at 11-1 to be man of the match and it may be worth throwing another dart at 16-1 shot Ryan Higgins.

The Zimbabwe-born Higgins, who took 2-23 against Middlesex, is having a wonderful summer in the County Championship with 744 runs and 35 wickets making him Gloucestershire’s leading batsman and bowler.

He can be a devastating hitter, as a T20 career strike-rate of 130 suggests, and his much-improved bowling means he is another potential matchwinner for Gloucestershire.

Two tight games are forecast elsewhere in the South Group. Middlesex are slight favourites for a home win over Kent, who have won four out of four, while Essex are evens to beat Hampshire at Chelmsford.

Recommendations
B Howell to be man of the match
1pt 11-1 general
R Higgins to be man of the match
1pt 16-1 Coral, Ladbrokes
