After a tense 2-1 victory over New Zealand in the Twenty20 series, England Women claimed a more comprehensive 30-run win in the first ODI.

The three-match series moves on to New Road in Worcester where England are hot 2-7 favourites to take an unassailable 2-0 lead and their new-ball bowlers could cause early problems for the tourists.

Amy Satterthwaite's unbeaten 79 narrowed the margin of defeat in the first ODI for the Kiwis, who were 31-3 and 143-8 before rallying to post 211 all out.

However, New Zealand's openers can expect another tough examination in late-season conditions and Suzie Bates may struggle to pass a runs line of 22.5.

Bates was caught at slip for one off Nat Sciver in Bristol, having made one, eight and 34 in the T20 series, and Sciver and Katherine Brunt were right on the money in the first ten overs of the first game.
