Match preview

England’s women have put in some impressive performances in their dominant series wins over South Africa and they will be looking to round off a white-ball whitewash in their final T20 in Derby tonight.

The series has set the hosts up well for the Commonwealth Games, which they begin against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

South Africa will also be competing and start their campaign against New Zealand on the same day. There haven’t been many positives to take from the Proteas’ defeats in the series but one has definitely been the batting performances of Laura Wolvaardt.

The 23-year-old has five 50s and a century in her last 12 innings at an average of 47.33.

Three of those half-centuries have come in her last four innings so Wolvaardt is clearly in good nick and looks a tempting price to be top South African runscorer once more given the struggles of her compatriots with the bat.

England don’t make much appeal as a betting proposition at 1-8 to get the win but should round off what has been a successful series in style.
