Match preview

A settled opening pair is a crucial part of a Twenty20 team and, eight games into the 2022 IPL season, Kolkata Knight Riders are still searching for the right personnel at the top of the order.

Sam Billings (four) and Sunil Narine (five) were both dismissed cheaply in KKR's eight-run defeat to Gujarat last time out and in their previous game Narine was run out without facing a ball after a mix-up with Aaron Finch.

Kolkata have tried out four different opening combinations in their last four matches going back to a 44-run defeat against Delhi Capitals, whose top two David Warner and Prithvi Shaw put on 93 in 8.4 overs that day.

Australian veteran Warner has been the leading runscorer in an IPL season on three occasions and looks in great nick going into the rematch with Kolkata at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

The left-hander raced to 28 off 14 balls before being caught behind against Rajasthan at the Wankhede last time out and his three previous scores were 60 not out, 66 and 61 against the Knight Riders.
