Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers are battling to avoid the Big Bash wooden spoon and Brisbane's batting woes may not improve in this bottom-of-the-table clash.

The Heat's top-order batsmen have struggled to put runs on the board on a regular basis, hence their record of just three wins in ten completed matches.

They were fortunate to take a share of the points when the floodlights failed in their match against Sydney Thunder when they were 10-2, chasing 187, with star men Brendon McCullum and Chris Lynn already back in the hutch.

Opener McCullum has made only three fifties in 11 innings, scoring at a pedestrian strike-rate of 117, and the Scorchers, with Shaun Marsh and Cameron Bancroft at the top of the order, can outdo their hosts in the early exchanges.

Recommendation
Perth Scorchers to have higher opening partnership
