Australia v New Zealand third Testpreview

New Zealand's long-awaited three-Test series in Australia has turned out to be a painful experience for the Black Caps, who are massive outsiders to claim a consolation win in the final match in Sydney.

Australia have been ruthless from the off in the first two Tests, gaining first-innings leads of 250 in Perth and 319 in Melbourne to set up two thumping victories.

They took their foot off the gas in the final game of the Ashes series, allowing England to pinch a 2-2 draw, but it is hard to see their standards slipping at the SCG, the home ground for their influential New South Wales contingent.

Steve Smith, one of those NSW players, has had a quiet series by his own ridiculously high standards, making 43 and 16 in Perth and 85 and seven at the MCG.

The fine form of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne means Smith is a backable price at 11-4 to top-score at a ground where his last four first-innings scores have been 83, 24, 117 and 115.
