Evander Holyfield returns to the ring at the age of 58 to take on former UFC champion Vitor Belfort. The Real Deal has stepped in as a last minute replacement for Oscar De La Hoya after Golden Boy tested positive for Covid and the card has now been moved to the Hard Rock Seminole in Hollywood, Florida.
The California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the bout, but their Florida counterparts have given the green light for the fight to count on their pro records.
Holyfield had been in training for a planned return on June 5 and should be in good shape, but Belford is 14 years younger than the former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion.
The contest doesn't make any appeal as a betting event and the same can be said for David Haye's return against Joe Fournier on the undercard.
Hayemaker should crush the Westbourne Park puncher but given the close relationship between the two it’s difficult to know how things will play out.
UFC legend Anderson Silva continues his boxing journey against Tito Ortiz and the most interesting fight of the night, from a punting point of view, is the clash for the vacant WBC International Silver super-featherweight title between Andy Vences and Jono Carroll.
King Kong's whirlwind style is effective when he is dominating low-level opponents, but less so when the Dublin dueller steps up in class.
Carroll has lost to Tevin Farmer and the newly-crowned IBO lightweight champion Maxi Hughes and the same fate could await against Vences.
The American has the physical advantages to keep Carroll at bay and he looks a decent bet at even money.
