Big-fight preview

Derek Chisora has danced pretty much every dance, but all parties come to an end and time may be up for Del Boy.

Chisora has mixed it with the best heavyweights the division has to offer. The Finchley fighter has been in with Tyson Fury twice, Dillian Whyte twice, David Haye, Kubrat Pulev, Vitali Klitschko and most recently Oleksandr Usyk. He has put up plenty of good showings throughout his career but failed to win against any of those top-level boxers and was beaten by Joseph Parker in May.

Chisora gets another crack at the Kiwi and it was only a split-decision loss in their first fight. However, he has always been at his most effective when motivation is high and he has the desire for a strong preparation. Del Boy himself said that he wasn't really feeling this fight, when it was announced earlier in the year, and without motivation the 37-year-old could be vulnerable.

Clearly, Chisora is in the twilight of his career and he has more miles on the clock than most. The Finchley man hasn't earned the moniker of War for nothing and at some point his punch resistance is going to falter.

Parker doesn't have a reputation as a big-hitter, but 21 of his 29 wins have come via stoppage. The Auckland banger was beaten by Anthony Joshua in 2018 and was then defeated by Whyte. However, his preparation for the fight against the Body Snatcher left a lot to be desired and those are the only two defeats on the Kiwi's record.

The 29-year-old has rebuilt with five-straight wins and the latest victory over Chisora came under the tutelage of Andy Lee.

Parker has had a full camp with the impressive trainer this time, and given that Parker hasn't always enjoyed the best coaching or preparation, that should come as a major boost to his chances.

It's also worth considering that Parker is still relatively young at 29. At that age the Kiwi must still be harbouring hopes of at least getting a shot at a world title and that should ensure that his motivation is peaking.

Parker is a good boxer with a strong jab and the former WBA heavyweight champion is a dangerous opponent when he lets the punches go.

Parker is the right favourite for this fight, but the prices look a little too far on the side of a points victory. It's 2-1 that Parker can stop Chisora and he looks good value to win the war.
