The fallout from the contentious decision that saw Josh Taylor hold on to his undisputed light-welterweight crown continues, with the British Boxing Board of Control set to investigate the scoring of his victory over Jack Catterall.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the man who Taylor beat to win two of his world titles, Jose Carlos Ramirez, returns to the ring to take on Jose Pedraza in California.

Ramirez was floored twice by Taylor, but that is the only defeat on his card and he has recorded good wins over Viktor Postol and Jose Zepeda in his 27-fight career.

The Californian will be looking to get back into world title contention and the winner of Saturday's bout will be elevated to the WBC mandatory position.

Pedraza has lost three of his 32 fights, but two of those defeats came against elite-level operators Vasyl Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis.

The Puerto Rico puncher has managed decent wins over Julian Rodriguez and Javier Molina in his last couple of fights, but the suspicion is that he will once again come up short as he moves up in class. That's not to say that he can't be competitive, though, and Davis is the only man to have stopped Pedraza.

This bout looks likely to go the distance, but ultimately Ramirez's class should tell.
