Nathan Cleverly – remember him? The former world light-heavyweight champion lost his title when juggernaut Sergey Kovalev ran him over in four one-sided rounds in Cardiff in 2013, then moved up to cruiserweight and was beaten in a grudge match by bitter rival Tony Bellew two years ago.

That night proved pivotal in the career of Bellew, who went on to star in a Rocky movie before winning a dream world title at Goodison Park – home of his beloved Everton FC, but Cleverly’s slide has continued.

Moving back down to light-heavyweight, he swept aside over-matched opponent Tomas Man (ranked 215 in the division on Boxrec.com) inside one round, but then lost a 12-round decision to Andrzej Fonfara.
