Long-term rivals finally set to settle their feud
Free boxing tips, best bets and analysis for the 149lbs catchweight fight between Amir Khan and Kell Brook.
All-British grudge match is on
British boxers Amir Khan and Kell Brook are finally set to settle their long-term rivalry in a fight which was first touted five years ago.
Both fighters are former world champions, and while neither are at the peak of their powers, this should still be a terrific tussle.
There are no titles on the line, but that doesn't take away from the intrigue and it's a fascinating betting heat, too.
Brook is the 4-6 favourite, Khan is a 6-4 chance and the draw is on offer at 20-1. It's 5-4 that the fight goes the full 12 rounds and 4-7 that we don't hear the final bell.
Khan v Brook: When will it happen?
Khan and Brook are set to finally settle their rivalry on February 19.
Khan v Brook: Where will it happen?
The bout will take place at the Manchester Arena, close to Khan’s home town of Bolton.
Khan v Brook: Home heroes
Khan is a former unified light-welterweight world champion, having held the WBA title from 2009 to 2012 and the IBF title in 2011.
Brook is a one-time IBF welterweight champion and the belt was in his possession from 2014 to 2017. The pair are two of the best boxers Britain has produced in recent years.
Khan v Brook: What's do the fighters have left?
Amir Khan last stepped into the ring against Billy Dib in July 2019. However, that was little more than an exhibition bout in Saudi Arabia and his last serious fight came against Terence Crawford in April of the same year.
That bout ended in a sixth-round knockout defeat for King Khan and the Bolton boxer has fought just four times since 2016.
Crawford also brought the curtain down on Brook's hopes of glory, stopping the Sheffield man in four rounds in November 2020.
While Special K has been active more recently, that doesn't mean he is the fresher fighter and he hasn't looked the same since he suffered a crushing defeat to Gennadiy Golovkin at middleweight in 2016.
The Sheffield star was well rewarded for that bout, and it was a shot at a world title, but he came away with a broken eye socket and the contest certainly left its mark.
Where to watch Khan v Brook
The bout will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK. Gifted amateur Frazer Clarke will also make his professional heavyweight debut on the card.
Khan v Brook fight predictions
Khan and Brook have enjoyed plenty of glory in their careers, but it's almost pointless looking at previous achievements when assessing this contest. The sun has almost set on the career of both of these fighters and a peak performance from either man is unlikely.
The question is who has got the most left to offer? King Khan has suffered five defeats in his 39-fight career and he has been stopped four times. However, they have tended to be flash knockdowns, rather than six, seven or eight rounds of punishment.
For Brook, it's hard to ignore the impact of the Golovkin fight. That was a destructive defeat which came at a weight class in which Special K should not have been operating. The Sheffield star never really recovered from that reversal and he was left with substantial injuries after it.
The other big issue is the weight. This is a catch-weight bout at 149lbs - two pounds above the welterweight restriction. Brook hasn't made this limit since he was beaten by Errol Spence in 2017 and there have to be major concerns about Special K at 149lbs.
This contest could go either way, but given the considerations of the two major factors in this bout, it's arguable that Khan should be the favourite. At 6-4 King Khan can have one last day in the sun.
