Motherwell can hammer another nail in Dundee’s relegation coffin on Saturday with a win against the desperate Dens Park strugglers.
Dundee have endured a miserable campaign and are on the brink of being cast adrift in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Appointing Jim McIntyre to follow the hapless Neil McCann initially seemed to give the Dark Blues a boost, but recently they have been just as awful as they were under the former Scotland international.
They usually take a large following with them, but those fans have had to watch their increasingly woeful side lose eight games on the bounce and net just one goal in their last seven defeats. And this from a side supposedly battling hard against the drop.
Ladbrokes Scottish League Two standings
Bookmakers still think they have some fight left and with Motherwell having little to play for, that seems to be only explanation as to why the Dundee are odds-on.
The Lanarkshire outfit have won five of their last six at Fir Park with their only defeat in that period coming against in-form Rangers.
They can help push Dundee closer to the drop.
Partick Thistle can complete their own great escape with victory against Ayr United.
This is the second leg of a quickfire double-header between the sides after the Jags went to Somerset Park on Tuesday and won 1-0, a victory that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggested.
Ayr appear to have settled for conserving their energy for the upcoming promotion playoffs and they are missing top scorer Lawrence Shankland too.
Gary Caldwell has got a tune out of Thistle after an initially poor start to his tenure and they will secure safety if they win and other results go their way.
Raith Rovers look overpriced to beat Brechin City in Ladbrokes League One.
The Kirkcaldy side have slipped to third in the table and need a win to have a chance of finishing above second-placed Forfar and receiving the bonus of having two fewer games to play in the
playoffs.
They were within a few minutes of beating champions Arbroath at their Gayfield home last week despite being without seven players and although they have been a long way from their best, they should still have too much for Brechin.
Brechin, managed by ex-Raith manager Barry Smith, collapsed at Stranraer last week and appear to be in freefall at the worst possible time of the season.
