RACING POST TIP

Haatem
A host with chances in a typically wide-open renewal. Last year's winner HAATEM has presumably been primed for this again and he's preferred to Arabian Light (second choice) and Wimbledon Hawkeye, who ran encouraging trials in the Brigadier Gerard. This is a slightly belated reappearance for Nahraan, and firmish ground would be something new to him, but the only horses to have beaten him are Japanese star Croix Du Nord and Arc hero Daryz. French raider Map Of Stars would be a threat to all if first-time cheekpieces spark a return to form.

What happened in the Wolferton Stakes last year?

down

Haatem struck for Wathnan Racing in the Wolferton Stakes. The Richard Hannon-trained colt recorded back-to-back wins at Royal Ascot, having landed the Jersey Stakes the previous year. Haatem was one of four runners in the race for Wathnan Racing, with the 4-1 favourite King’s Gambit also sporting their colours in third. It was Haatem’s first run at the 1m2f trip and second victory in the race in the past six years for his rider James Doyle, who rode Mountain Angel to success in 2020.
