Managing director Pat Masterson, who will celebrate his 30th anniversary at Newton Abbot on Tuesday, admits he has never faced a bigger challenge than the one presented by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Devon track, which usually hosts 18 fixtures a season, has not raced since September 20 and its first eight meetings have been lost this year.

Measures are being put in place to race behind closed doors and the track has been given four fixtures in the revised jumps schedule that begins next month, with its first meeting set to take place on July 7.
