Wuheida ready to start making up for lost time in Falmouth

One-time leading 1,000 Guineas fancy Wuheida is set to make her long-awaited seasonal return in the Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Last year's Prix Marcel Boussac winner suffered a setback in April which ruled her out of the Newmarket Classic, as well as the Oaks, for which she was also prominent in the betting.

Trainer Charlie Appleby took the daughter of Dubawi for a racecourse gallop at Chelmsford last Wednesday and is planning for her to make her reappearance at the venue at which she scored on her debut last summer.

Wuheida is one of just nine left in the Falmouth at the six-day stage, and the market is now headed at 5-2 by Roly Poly, whose trainer Aidan O'Brien won the race last year with Alice Springs.

Appleby said of 6-1 shot Wuheida: "Providing she's fine next week the plan is to run her in the Falmouth.

"It might be a bold move running her back into a Group 1 first time out but she was second favourite for the 1,000 Guineas at one point and we've always thought she was a quality filly.

"She worked nicely at Chelmsford and she's ready to come back. It doesn't look the strongest Falmouth there's ever been but we're not worried who turns up as we have a lot of faith in our filly."

O'Brien could also saddle Rain Goddess, while others in contention to run are German 1,000 Guineas winner Unforgetable Filly and Sea Of Grace, runner-up in the French equivalent and second favourite at 7-2.

The other remaining entries are Arabian Hope (Saeed Bin Suroor), Greta G (John Gosden), Opal Tiara (Mick Channon) and German filly Delectation (Andreas Wohler), who finished fourth to Unforgetable Filly last time.
