World Hurdle hero Thistlecrack could be unleashed over fences on Tuesday at the start of a journey leading to the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

Few chasing debuts this season have been more keenly awaited than that of the brilliant Cheltenham Festival winner, who has made such an impression in last season's World Hurdle that he is clear favourite with some bookmakers to claim Don Cossack's crown next March despite never having jumped a fence in public.

Unsuitably quick ground forced Colin Tizzard to scrap his original plan to launch the gelding's chasing career at Chepstow career early this month.
