Work on the details of a new governance structure for British racing is set to continue after the issue was discussed by the BHA board on Friday, but the Racing Post understands that disagreement over fixture ownership and termination rights remains.

BHA chairman Joe Saumarez Smith said last month that he hoped the new structure, which would give greater leadership powers to the governing body's board, would be in place by the end of October.

It is also hoped a new structure will underpin efforts to create a long-term industry strategy for British racing to address issues including internationally uncompetitive prize-money, low field sizes and a drain of equine talent abroad.
