Woods plans to resume career in Britain after Hong Kong falling out
Trainer refused licence for 2016-17 season by HKJC
Sean Woods yesterday said he plans to resume his training career in Britain after his 15-year spell in Hong Kong ended with him being refused a licence for the 2016-17 season.
Woods's tally of ten winners during the most recent campaign was not sufficient to meet the Hong Kong Jockey Club's minimum requirement of 13 victories, and a licensing committee determined he had failed to justify why he should be granted a licence.
A subsequent appeal was also dismissed and yesterday Woods was back in Newmarket weighing up his options. He is also considering further legal avenues in Hong Kong having claimed in the South China Morning Post that his attempts to continue his stay had been "sabotaged" at the hearings by the HKJC's executive management.
