Mick Winters describes himself as the worst punter who ever lived, but his training record speaks for itself and he is hoping Caspian Caviar Gold Cup fancy Chatham Street Lad can add to it at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Winters is renowned for his eccentric manner, but there is nothing madcap about the idea of his progressive handicapper becoming just the third Irish-trained winner of the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup this millennium.

The Noel Meade-trained Sir Oj was the most recent Irish winner of the prestigious handicap in 2005 and Chatham Street Lad will vie to emulate him after storming home over two miles in deep ground at Cork last month.
