Wings Of Desire team to wait for King George
Wings Of Desire looks set to take on his elders in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, with connections of the Derby fourth opting to wait for the Ascot Group 1 rather than supplement for Thursday's Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris.
With the Epsom first three, Harzand, US Army Ranger and Idaho, not entered in the midsummer showpiece a week on Saturday, it will be left to Wings Of Desire to represent the Derby form and attempt to gain revenge on Postponed, who beat his brother Eagle Top by a nose in last year's King George.
Explaining the decision to skip France, Hugo Lascelles, owner Lady Bamford's racing manager, said yesterday: "We didn't supplement him for Saint-Cloud because we're looking at the King George. He's in great form and John Gosden is very happy with him. John wants to go for the King George so that's where we're going."
