David Williams: leaving Ladbrokes after 13 years

David Williams, who is among the most high-profile of bookmaker public relations operators, is to leave his job as director of media at Ladbrokes next month.

Williams joined the firm 13 years ago on their graduate scheme and said: "During that time I've valued the support of some outstanding colleagues and made some first-class friends who encouraged and allowed me to work in a wonderful industry.

"Heading up the PR charge with Ladbrokes was a real privilege but it now feels like a good time to seek a fresh challenge and I'm relishing the prospect of exploring new opportunities.

"To those who helped to make my years with the Magic Sign so special, I'm extremely thankful."

Valued colleague

Ladbrokes director of public relations Mike Dillon said: "Working with David for more than a decade has been not only an enjoyable experience but one that has made me a firm admirer of his professional qualities.

"From his earliest days at Ladbrokes, his combination of youthful enthusiasm, a bright and lively mind and an engaging personality, gave me good reason to value him as a colleague and to relish his company when we were away from the job.

"In our line of work he already has a high ratings figure and it can only get higher."

Loved every minute

Public relations manager Alex Donohue, 27, is also leaving Ladbrokes after six and a half years.

He said: "I've loved every minute at the Magic Sign since I joined at 21, especially thanks to the people I've had the pleasure of working for and with.

"David Williams has been a peerless boss, mentor and friend, and learning from the best has allowed me to kick on."
