Monday

It would probably be tricky for anyone to suggest there is too much racing when you consider the week starts with a jumps meeting at and action on the Flat from Ayr.

Racing in Ireland begins at 5.30 at Roscommon, which is followed by the start of , for which Ed Dunlop has booked star apprentice Harry Davies for his three runners.

Tuesday

Monday might appear quieter than usual, but Ffos Las should have staged its meeting then. However, a protest against fuel prices on the M4 means the fixture was pushed back 24 hours.

The track's leading jockey is there for six rides, while Pontefract stages the Listed Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Pipalong Stakes (3.15).

Wednesday

A busy week picks up pace with six fixtures, including afternoon fare from Lingfield, Catterick and Yarmouth.

That's followed by Fairyhouse, Bath and Kempton, where a 1m4f novice for three-year-olds (6.45) could be worth keeping an eye on.

Thursday

Top-tier tracks Newbury and Epsom stage cards but play second fiddle to Newmarket, which starts its popular and high-quality July festival.

Races on the bill include the Bahrain Trophy (1.50) and Close Brothers July Stakes (2.25), although the feature is the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Close Brothers Stakes (3.35).

There is also racing at Leopardstown, which hosts the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Stanerra Stakes (8.00) and a 7f fillies' maiden (5.30) that went to subsequent Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Homeless Songs 12 months ago.

Friday

Most eyes will probably again be on Newmarket, where the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (3.15) takes place on the second day of the July meeting.

Inspiral, who dazzled in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, looks the one to beat in the Group 1 contest, while York's William Hill Summer Stakes() can be a good slot for black-type hunters a little further down the pecking order.

There is also action from Ascot, Chester, Chepstow, Kilbeggan and York.

Saturday

Known as , this day does not always please all, but with plenty going on it allows many jockeys the opportunity for a headline ride they might otherwise miss out on.

The day's highlight is Newmarket's Darley July Cup (4.25), arguably the world's most prestigious sprint, while York is responsible for the historic John Smith's Cup (4.05).

Ascot hosts the Group 2 Summer Miles Stakes (3.35) and there is afternoon racing at Chester followed by evening fixtures at Salisbury and Hamilton.

Further afield, Aidan O'Brien and Charlie Appleby are set to be involved in the Belmont Derby card in New York, where a certain could add spice to the mix.

Sunday

Flat fans may have had their fill after Super Saturday, but jump racing in Britain returns after a four-day break.

Perth and Stratford provide the setting, while Sligo races in Ireland.

There is also action at Fairyhouse, which hosts the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes, which might be best known as a domestic Group race the has never won.
