What's on this week: Killarney, Newbury's Super Sprint and the Irish Oaks
Monday
After a hectic sporting weekend, the pace does not slow much with six meetings in Britain and Ireland, including the opening day of the Killarney racing festival. The first day is headlined by €50,000 Boylesports Handicap Chase, which has attracted eight runners (7.20).
Fixtures are also hosted by Windsor, Ripon, Wolverhampton and Downpatrick, while Ayr's card features a Class 2 mile handicap (4.10) won by subsequent Bunbury Cup winner Vale Of Kent last year.
Tuesday
The festival at Killarney continues with a €26,000 handicap hurdle the main attraction. Away from Ireland, racing comes from Beverley and Bath in the afternoon before Nottingham and Southwell share the evening limelight.
Wednesday
The fixture list maintains its busy nature on Wednesday with seven fixtures scheduled to take place.
Anthony Van Dyck won the maiden (5.55) which kick-starts day three at Killarney 12 months ago, so plenty of eyes will be on the look out for Aidan O'Brien's next Classic contender.
The Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes (7.30) is worth €55,000 and likely to attract a good field, with action at Catterick, Uttoxeter, Fairyhouse, Yarmouth, Lingfield and Wolverhampton supplementing the strongest meeting of the day.
Thursday
The Irish action is not restricted to Killarney as Leopardstown joins the party with an evening card which includes the Group 3 Meld Stakes (7.50). Hazapour, Cape Of Good Hope, Romanised and Willie John are all entered for the 1m1f contest.
There is also racing at Epsom and Ffos Las on Thursday evening, with Chepstow, Hamilton and Leicester providing the afternoon action.
Friday
Racing comes to an end at Killarney with a fifth and final day, while Newbury's two-day meeting begins with the Rose Bowl Stakes (3.40), won in recent seasons by Group 1 performers Limato and Tasleet.
Newmarket, Haydock, Nottingham, Pontefract and Kilbeggan all host fixtures, but Hamilton will arguably showcase the best quality of the day in the Glasgow Stakes (8.10). Defoe and Postponed have been successful in the Listed race in the not too distant past.
Saturday
Saturday will not be quite as hectic as the Super Saturday witnessed a week prior, but there is still lots to keep track on a Classic weekend. The Irish Oaks (5.10) has been won by a British-based stable in seven of the last ten years, but neither the Oaks or Ribblesdale winners are entered at the Curragh.
The valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint (3.40) anchors the Newbury card, although the £100,000 JLT Cup (2.25) and the Hackwood Stakes (3.00) ensure the narrative is not to be dominated by one race in Berkshire.
Listed action also comes from Newmarket and over jumps at Market Rasen.
Sunday
There is more Group action at the Curragh including the Sapphire Stakes (3.10), another race harvested by British trainers in recent seasons.
Sunday's fare is completed by cards at Tipperary, Newton Abbot, Redcar and Stratford.
