What's on this week: Champ and Paisley Park on course for rematch in Long Walk
Monday
With the sub-zero temperatures continuing to hit Britain and Ireland, the week begins on a quiet front with three all-weather meetings.
Lingfield is the venue for the only afternoon action in Britain with an eight-race card. The Tony Carroll-trained Pop Dancer bids for a four-timer in the feature 5f handicap (1.12).
There is afternoon racing from Dundalk in Ireland, with a meeting from Wolverhampton rounding the day off.
Tuesday
It's all-weather action all the way again on Tuesday, and at Southwell, Godolphin-owned fillies Queen Of Fairies and Reflective Star are interesting runners in the mile novice (1.13).
The day is brought to a close with Wolverhampton hosting an all-weather evening fixture.
Wednesday
A third consecutive day of solely all-weather action with afternoon meetings at Lingfield and Dundalk followed by early evening action at Kempton.
Thursday
The week starts to ramp up with jumps fixtures at Exeter, Ffos Las and Naas. At the former, there is a valuable prize on offer to the winner of the 3m handicap chase (3.10), with Morning Spirit, The Edgar Wallace and Fuji Flight among the entries.
Grade 2 winner Bronn is a potential runner for Willie Mullins in a 2m4f beginners chase (2.25) at Naas, while there are seven races at Ffos Las for punters to get their teeth stuck into.
The day concludes with an all-weather afternoon fixture from Southwell and evening racing from Chelmsford.
Friday
The best of the day’s action comes from Ascot, with back-to-back Grade 2 contests on the six-race card.
The unbeaten Luccia, who landed a Listed novice on her hurdling debut, and the Dan Skelton-trained She's A Saint are entered into the Kennel Gate Novices' Hurdle (2.20). Meanwhile, Grade 1 scorer Monmiral is a possible candidate to run in the Howden Noel Novices' Chase (2.55) that follows.
There is afternoon jump racing from Uttoxeter, while Southwell hosts seven races before evening fixtures on the all-weather from Kempton and Dundalk.
Saturday
It’s Long Walk Hurdle (2.20) day at Ascot and a possible rematch between Paisley Park and reigning champion Champ could be on the cards.
They produced a thrilling battle in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last month, with the last-named prevailing. Not So Sleepy, Goshen and Miranda hold entries for what looks to be a hot Grade 1 renewal.
The valuable 3m Howden Silver Cup Handicap Chase (2.55) follows, with Annsam and Our Power leading the early market. The 1m7½f Betfair Exchange Trophy (3.30) concludes the action at Ascot, where Pikar is the heavy favourite to land another big prize for the Skelton yard.
The £50,000 3m1½f handicap chase (2.40) and a Listed mares' novice hurdle (12.20) are two of seven races at Haydock, while Newcastle and Fairyhouse host the day’s other jumps meetings.
The only Flat fixture comes on the all-weather at Lingfield.
Sunday
The week draws to a close in Britain with jump racing from Fakenham and an all-weather fixture at Wolverhampton.
Navan hosts an eight-race card which features a Grade 2 novice hurdle (12.30) and the Listed Future Champions Flat Race (3.30), which was won last year by Champion Bumper runner-up American Mike.
More Irish action is on offer at Thurles, where the highlight is a Listed mares' novice hurdle (2.14).
