What's on this week: building ahead to Future Champions weekend and Pinatubo
Monday
After the surfeit of Group 1s in France at the weekend it is back to basics to start the week, although the one constant is likely to be the state of the ground after relentless rain last week with more promised in the coming days.
Windsor reverts to its afternoon agenda after another successful summer season of evening racing.
Stratford, over jumps, and Newcastle, on the all-weather, complete the scene in Britain with Tipperary providing jumping action in Ireland.
The picture for Saturday’s racing becomes clearer around midday with the five-day acceptors for the Emirates Cesarewitch and the Darley Dewhurst.
Tuesday
Two unusual '96Plus' races, for horses rated 96-110, have fallen flat at Leicester with just four runners in each contest, but the fact the ground was heavy at declaration time did not help. The rest of the middle-of-the-road races have filled well.
Continuing this theme the teatime meeting at Chelmsford has just three runners in its mile feature (6.10), with Mark Johnston hoping to edge closer to another place in the history books for the most winners in a year with highest-rated of the trio Arctic Sound.
Brighton and Catterick give punters plenty to puzzle over elsewhere with Galway providing the only jumping action.
Wednesday
Something for everyone with two Flat meetings matched by two over jumps and two on the all-weather, providing over eight hours of racing.
Ludlow and Wincanton host the jumpers. Nottingham and Navan have the Flat racing on turf before Kempton and Newcastle round things off on the all-weather.
Thursday
Much the same set-up on Thursday with another six meetings similarly split.
Exeter, which has hosted the likes of Viking Flagship, Desert Orchid, Kauto Star and Best Mate, starts its 250-year celebrations and there are plenty of plans to mark the milestone, starting with the first 250 racegoers getting commemorative and collectable pin badges.
Worcester is the other jump meeting with Ayr in Scotland and Thurles in Ireland providing the Flat racing before Southwell and Kempton round off the Flat action in the evening.
Friday
The start of the weekend has the best of both worlds with Newmarket on the Flat and Chepstow over jumps putting on cards that would not look out of place on any Saturday.
Newmarket's Dubai Future Champions two-day festival starts with the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile (3.35) after two Group 3s and a Group 2.
Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley, who have the well-fancied Cayenne Pepper, could complete a notable Group 1 fillies' hat-trick in 13 days after the successes of Millisle in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket and Albigna in the Marcel Boussac at Longchamp.
Chepstow opens with the Grade 2 Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle (2.10), which only just tops the veterans' chase on the card in prize-money as well as interest and class.
If that was not enough York has two Class 2 and four Class 3 races with over 200 entries for the afternoon meeting, and Newcastle’s Tapeta track takes a third evening pounding of the week.
Saturday
Another dual-purpose day with Newmarket topping the billing with the Darley Dewhurst Stakes (3.30), set to feature the Godolphin colossus that is Pinatubo, and the Emirates Cesarewitch (4.10), for which the Willie Mullins-trained Buildmeupbuttercup is ante-post favourite.
York hosts a second day and Wolverhampton rounds off the action on the Flat in the evening.
Chepstow features the Grade 3 Cotswold Stone Supplies Ltd Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle, alongside a Listed novice chase with Hexham providing the other jumping.
Sunday
Ireland grabs the spotlight with the Tote Irish Cesarewitch (4.25) at the Curragh and Limerick hosts the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National (4.35).
Goodwood and Newton Abbot keep racegoers happy on the south coast in Britain.
