An excited Sandy Thomson insists victory in Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National would be at the top of his career achievements should he finally celebrate an elusive success in his country's most prestigious jumps race.

Thomson hit the crossbar in the 4m Ayr marathon when popular chaser Seeyouatmidnight came third in 2016 while Dingo Dollar was a narrow second last year behind Mighty Thunder, and the Borders trainer will be doubly represented this time with The Ferry Master, fourth 12 months ago, and Hill Sixteen, who concedes weight all round.

The Ferry Master is as short as 9-1 with the race sponsors to keep the crown in Scotland, while Hill Sixteen is a 20-1 chance, and Thomson admitted he is determined to secure a famous victory following last year's heartbreak.
