'We want the best horses to race here' - Godolphin backs need for action

Godolphin have said they would welcome any plan that could help secure British racing's future as the sport digested proposals agreed by a number of industry heavyweights to tackle the big issues facing the sport.

The group, in which former BHB chairman Peter Savill played a prominent role, approached the BHA this week to outline its proposals which it hoped would be fed into British racing's forthcoming strategy review.

Savill said the sport faced major challenges around prize-money, small field sizes and a drain of equine talent abroad.
