'We have to try something' - McCullagh calls for false rail at Leopardstown
Niall McCullagh thinks the time has come to reintroduce a false rail at Leopardstown following more hard-luck stories at the track on Saturday for the course's highest profile Flat fixture of the year.
Mother Earth was arguably the unluckiest loser, failing to see daylight for much of the home straight on the way to finishing third to No Speak Alexander in the Matron Stakes, and McCullagh said it has become all too common at the track.
Leopardstown did trial a false rail a decade ago and the consensus was that it did not work, but McCullagh explained why it was not successful and feels it is time to explore the idea again.
