Coolmore have emphatically rejected the suggestion that John Warwick, the therapist at the centre of Tuesday’s drugs raid in Monasterevin, had routinely done work on the stud’s yearlings.

In a Sunday Independent article documenting the background to the Department of Agriculture-led sting, Warwick was quoted from a telephone conversation with an unidentified other as saying that he “was in Ireland for many years courtesy of Coolmore” and that he “still did work for Coolmore” on their yearlings, adding: "I'm usually there every second week from April."

When outlining the sort of work he did on yearlings, Warwick was quoted as saying he administered an American product that “lowers the neuroblasts”. He described it as being “totally legal” and that it “passes all dope tests. Whether it is legal to use it in the UK is another story”.
