Is anyone wondering whether Wayne Lordan made the right decision to sacrifice winners for big-race rides by moving to Ballydoyle in 2017? Wonder no more.

Lordan has earned £2,378,034 in prize-money this year, including winning the 1,000 Guineas on Hermosa and the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Iridessa.

Last Thursday he won the July Stakes at Newmarket on Royal Lytham before flying back to Leopardstown to land the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes on Peach Tree. He might not be first choice, or second, or even third at times, but he is a team player and has quickly become a vital cog in the Ballydoyle machine.
