Jockey banned after being caught on camera punching a horse
Australian jockey Dylan Caboche has been banned for two weeks for punching a horse in the ribs at Port Lincoln.
The 22-year-old had his feet out of the irons as three-year-old filly She's Reneldasgirl played up before her third start, but when she reared Caboche climbed off and then punched the filly below the saddle.
She's Reneldasgirl subsequently finished eighth, beaten more than 14 lengths.
There are eight meetings in South Australia scheduled during the Adelaide-based apprentice's ban - which runs from November 17 to December 1.
A Thoroughbred Racing South Australia spokesman told news.com.au: "TRSA does not condone and will not tolerate such behaviour and it is hoped this penalty – which will remain on the rider’s record and will impact his earning ability – will send a strong signal to others."
