Barry Geraghty's loss is already Mark Walsh's gain after a bonus winner at Tipperary yesterday – and JP McManus's number-two rider cannot wait to seize further opportunities at the Galway festival, which starts a week today.

Geraghty suffered a broken right arm at Market Rasen on Saturday and is likely to be sidelined for two to three months, meaning plum McManus mounts in races such as the €300,000 Guinness Galway Hurdle – Europe's most valuable handicap – and €220,000 thetote.com Galway Plate are now set to come Walsh's way.

McManus has Shanpallas among the market leaders for the Plate and Squouateur prominent in the betting for the Hurdle at a seven-day festival that boasts total prize-money of €1,884,000.
