Wall star Mix And Mingle could be bound for Duke of Cambridge
Mix And Mingle, the star of Chris Wall's Newmarket stable, could be supplemented for the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Owned by Aida Fustoq, Mix And Mingle has always been well regarded by Wall, who saddled her to win the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield this month.
That followed a smooth win in a Newmarket handicap over seven furlongs, and the lack of options over that trip mean connections are considering adding the four-year-old to the Duke of Cambridge, which is run over a mile and due to include last year's winner Usherette, who will also be supplemented after finishing third in Sunday's Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly.
Wall said: "We might think about supplementing Mix And Mingle for the Duke of Cambridge, but that's a decision we'll take much nearer the time when we can see how she is, what the opposition is and what the ground might be.
"I'd rather go up in grade with her and there are just so few races for her over seven furlongs. To go up in grade over seven we'd have to wait for the Lennox at Goodwood, which is quite a way off.
"Although a mile might not be her optimum trip, it might be worth a try. I thought last year she wasn't getting home over a mile, but a year older and a bit stronger she may do so."
A trip to Ascot could also be on the agenda for stablemate First Sitting, who won the Listed Festival Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday.
"We were waiting to see how he fared in that company to see what line we'd go down," Wall added. "His next port of call we hoped would be the Wolferton at Ascot, but we'll see what mark the handicapper puts him up to."
