Vaughan California dreaming after Mehronissa receives invite
Ed Vaughan is to achieve a "lifetime ambition" of having a runner at the Breeders' Cup next month after his smart sprinter Mehronissa was invited to the championships which this year return to Santa Anita in California.
The Newmarket trainer, who has just 20 horses in his yard, has already put plans in motion to take his progressive filly over for the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint on November 5.
The four-year-old has been in the form of her life this season, most recently when running the classy Shalaa to a neck in the Group 3 Bengough Stakes at Ascot 12 days ago. Before that, the daughter of Iffraaj had won a Listed race at Pontefract before finishing an excellent fourth to Quiet Reflection in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock.
