James Tate is set to saddle a runner in both the Qipco 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas this weekend with high hopes that at least one of them is not just making up the numbers.

Law And Order will be his first runner in the colts' Classic and he rates 1,000 Guineas contender Urban Fox at least the equal of the British contingent that will take on the Aidan O'Brien trio of Rhododendron, Hydrangea and Winter.

"It's great for the yard that we have a runner in both races," said Tate, who is based at Jamesfield Place in Newmarket. "Law And Order has the biggest challenge. He has to upgrade his form and handle the track better than he has handled it before to take a hand.

"But I think Urban Fox has a good each-way chance. She has improved with every single run. She went from being fourth in a Listed race to placed in a Group 3 and a Group 2 and was placed in a Group 1 at the end of last year. She has never been out of the first four.

"She had an interrupted preparation into the Fred Darling and I thought there was no way she could possibly finish in the first three because she hadn't done enough work. Off a slow pace over a trip too short, she still finished second to Dabyah. She has come on since then and looks a million dollars.

"The Irish fillies have got form that she would have to step up a lot again to challenge but I can't really see form from the English fillies that is any better than hers. Unforgetable Filly is shorter in the betting despite the fact Urban Fox beat her comfortably last year and has much better form.

"We think she has a good each-way chance. With Law And Order we are hoping for a good run, with the filly I feel a little bit different. We're anticipating a career best and it would be lovely to finish in the first four."
